Cooperating Lawyers
The AHLC Cooperating Lawyers Team is a coast-to-coast network of lawyers assisting the AHLC in its litigation, research, and other legal work. We are always looking to expand our network of lawyers to bolster our capacity for legal aid and advocacy, and we welcome attorneys and law students who share our commitment to defending secularism and human rights to join our network.
Most of AHLC's work is litigation surrounding church-state separation, but our Cooperating Lawyers come from all different backgrounds and provide us with invaluable resources that enable us to pursue our mission. Lawyers and law students who join the Cooperating Lawyers Team assist the AHLC in a number of ways. For example:
-
Identifying local counsel: Helping us find attorneys in their geographic area for planned litigation.
-
Providing specialized advice: Offering expertise in areas outside our staff lawyers' focus, such as immigration or intellectual property.
-
Assisting with research: Contributing to legal research or other related tasks.
-
Drafting amicus briefs: Lending expertise to help prepare amicus curiae briefs in cases with significant implications for secularism and civil liberties.
Cooperating Lawyers assist only as their availability allows, so joining creates no burdensome obligation. We welcome all legal professionals to our team, whatever your specialty or geographic area, if you are interested in helping us safeguard the separation of church and state.
